Dr Paula Heggarty is the practice principal of Mount Louisa Medical Centre. She began her GP training in the UK and completed her training in Australia.

She has worked in NQ for the last 20 years in emergency and as a rural GP. Her passion is to provide quality care in general practice with a focus on providing personal and holistic care.

Paula has a special interest in women’s health, including contraception (Implanon and Mirena insertion) men’s health, palliative care and mental health.

She is also a senior medical educator at James Cook University teaching medical students, junior doctors and the next generation of general practitioners.
