Dr René Zimmermann graduated medicine from the University of Adelaide in 2004 attaining his Fellowship of Royal Australian College of GPs in 2011.
Upon graduating Dr Zimmermann moved to Darwin before spending time working/training in Cairns, Atherton, Port Douglas, Innisfail and the Torres Straits.
Dr Zimmermann has special interests in paediatric and adolescent health, obstetric shared care, though enjoys all aspects of general practice. He is trained in minor skin excisions and laceration repair and Implanon removal/insertions.
Dr Zimmermann has been involved with teaching in Emergency Obstetric Medicine, along with the teaching of visiting medical students.
Dr Zimmermann, believes in a multidisciplinary approach to health care with the patient at the centre, along with establishing a good rapport with patients of the practice, thereby fostering a trusting therapeutic relationship and good continuity of care.
Dr Zimmermann believes in maintaining a good work life balance, and outside of work it would not be unusual to see him out walking his 2 Miniature Schnauzers or cycling, having also been involved with the Townsville to Cairns Bike Ride since 2014.
